Hello, I'm Ssegawa a native luganda speaker and member of wikimedia community user group Uganda. I am professional librarian that is passionate about free and quality information and I have been editing wikipedia both English and Luganda and I am one of the leading contributors. I therefore seek rights as an administrator lg.wikipedia.org to be able to ensure quality of the content on the luganda wikipedia and solve some gramatical errors evident on the interface. Dear Wikimedians,

My name is Ssemanda Willy (User: Ssemmanda will). I am the former Project Lead of Luganda Wikipedia (2022–2025) and currently serve as Community Manager of the Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda. I respectfully submit my request for Adminship on our Luganda Wikipedia.

My motivation for seeking adminship is to: Maintain and improve the quality of Luganda Wikipedia articles, support the community by handling administrative tasks such as page protection, deletion, and combating vandalism, encourage new contributors by providing guidance and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment and strengthen Luganda Wikipedia as part of our broader mission to preserve and promote Ugandan languages online.

I believe my experience in leadership, advocacy, editing, and training equips me to serve effectively as an administrator. I am committed to transparency, collaboration, and supporting the growth of Luganda Wikipedia.

Having William as a local admin for Luganda Wikipedia will be of great importance to the wiki in management of the different inconsistencies and challenges that we face as editors of Luganda Wikipedia especially with the review of the articles that are published on the wiki. Request for community approval: Updating the Cat-a-lot gadget

Hello everyone, I am working on improving the Cat-a-lot gadget to make it more useful for all editors. User:Neriah originally installed this gadget on our wiki, but it only works inside categories. I would like to update it so that it works properly on search results pages and regular articles, not only on category pages. I am B722N, an active contributor with over five years of experience in contributing to Wikimedia projects, including article creation, improvement, categorisation, community support, editor mentorship, and the use of Wikimedia tools.

I am requesting the following rights:

1. Administrator rights: I am requesting these rights to help maintain Luganda Wikipedia by protecting pages, handling vandalism and abuse, deleting or restoring pages in accordance with Wikimedia policies, blocking disruptive users, supporting community discussions, and guiding new editors, among other tasks.
2. Interface administrator rights: I am also requesting Interface administrator rights to assist with technical maintenance tasks such as managing CSS and JS pages, importing and updating Lua modules to ensure templates function properly, importing and updating templates, maintaining interface pages, and other related technical tasks.

Since beginning my journey across Wikimedia projects in 2024, I have been an active contributor dedicated to strengthening our ecosystem through article creation, content improvement, systematic categorization, editor mentorship, community support, and the utilization of various Wikimedia technical tools.

As Luganda Wikipedia continues to grow, maintaining a smooth, functional, and modern technical foundation is crucial. If granted Interface Administrator privileges, I intend to assist the community with the following technical maintenance tasks:

• Site Customization & Scripts: Managing and maintaining global CSS (`MediaWiki:Common.css`) and JavaScript (`MediaWiki:Common.js`) pages to improve rendering, accessibility, and user experience.
• Lua Module Management: Importing, updating, and optimizing Lua modules to ensure dynamic templates (such as Infoboxes and Navigation templates) function seamlessly and error-free.
• Template Infrastructure: Importing and updating core interface templates to streamline content creation for all contributors.
• Interface Localization & Messages: Translating and maintaining MediaWiki interface pages to ensure the platform remains intuitive for Luganda speakers.
• General Technical Maintenance: Addressing technical bugs, broken styles, and maintenance backlogs as requested by the community.

• Oppose until they gain exprience. While it is not recommended to write discussion with the help of LLM/AI (that is Chatgpt, Claude, etc), I am opposing this for several reasons, at least. First, I don't see much module and template edits apart from category creations and few articles created. CSS and Json pages are very brittle, a few screw-ups and the entire wiki goes kaboom. Instead, they should have regular admin rights as a start, until they gain more exprience. As a former regular and interface admin on this wiki, I would take this serious. I have created over 770 article stubs here, 33 modules and 48 templates, and over 830 articles on enwiki, so what I am saying is not personal.-Tumbuka Arch^★_★^★ 18:22, 17 Gwamunaana(Muwakanya) 2026 (UTC)
